Lisa Praël
PHYSIOTHERAPIST – BHSCPT, BSC, CGIMS
Lisa is a registered physiotherapist with over 25 years of experience helping patients recover from injury and move with confidence. She grew up in Victoria and earned an Honours degree in Biology from the University of Victoria in 1994, followed by a Physiotherapy degree from McMaster University in 1999.
Before returning to Victoria in 2006, she worked in a variety of physiotherapy clinics and hospitals in Australia, Whistler, and Vancouver.
Lisa treats a broad range of conditions, including shoulder, low back, and neck pain; arthritis; motor vehicle accident injuries; hip and knee replacements; and many types of sports-related injuries. Her post-graduate training includes advanced manual and manipulative therapy courses, as well as specialized education in shoulder, low back, neck, and cancer rehabilitation.
In 2007, Lisa completed all levels of the Manual and Manipulative Therapy program, certifying her to perform extremity and select spinal manipulations. She also obtained her Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) certification in 2013. Her enthusiasm for lifelong learning has led her to serve as a clinical assistant in both the UBC Physiotherapy and Medical School programs.
Lisa is passionate about helping people achieve their goals and return to the activities they love. She believes in a thorough assessment and evidence-based practice, integrating manual and manipulative therapy, IMS, customized exercise programs, core stabilization, education, and modalities such as shockwave therapy to optimize recovery and performance.
Outside of work, Lisa enjoys hiking, skiing, dancing, and traveling to faraway places with her family.
